    Definitely #3!

  • http://erinulrich.com/ Erin Ulrich

I definitely like #3 the best. I can feel the emotion of the woman in the picture…feels like she needs to catch her breath. It fits perfectly with the title and subtitle. Plus the image catches my eye and will stand out on a shelf!

    • http://joyfulmothering.net Christin

      Completely agree.

      • Leah Ficek

I agree, too! #3 is definitely my favorite.

    • kristinapetrella

one is “meh”, two is “i like it…”  three took my breath away.  Yes ma’am.

    • Aly_hug

      Totally agree with Erin….def #3!!!!!

    • Sara P

agree, number three, with nr 1 as the second option.

#3  I feel like that mom in photo 3.

  • http://twitter.com/Kela__Nellums Kela Nellums

#3 for sure! She looks like she’s surrendering to that much needed breath.

  • MTereasa

#3 for sure!  It depicts how I think so many of us feel at times.

  • http://joyfulmothering.net Christin

Oh my, I’m stuck between two and three. I love those both equally, so I’d be happy with either one! 🙂

  • Auntymelly007

    #3!

  • Bethany Peters

I like them all, but I think #3 is my favorite. I like the yellow color of the flowers and grayish sky in the first one. The second one reminds me of a pregnancy book with the pose of the girl (except without the big belly). The woman in the third cover looks the most desperate and I think captures the feel of the title best.

    #2!!!!!!!! So lovely!

  • http://www.permissiontoperuse.com/ Amy Bennett

#3 for sure.  You can tell she’s tired.  Second favorite would be #2.  #1 feels outdated for some reason.

  • http://www.vegaroos.com/ Amie

I like all three but definitely #3 best. How about the sky color from #1 on the sky of #3? 🙂 The title doesn’t contrast enough the way it is now.

  • http://www.desiringvirtue.com/ Desiring Virtue

    Ha ha! 3 definitely.

  • http://ErikaDawson.com/ Erika Dawson

    I like #2 or #3, but I think 3 is my fave.

  • http://twitter.com/thegypsymama thegypsymama

    Number 3. Fo shizzle!

  • ev

#3. It feels more tense. The top two are WAY too peaceful. She looks like she may be stopping to catch her breath, in a precarious position, and might even be by the water, tying in to the “breathing, almost drowning” thought. It also has more contrast, visually.

  • http://theuglyblogling.wordpress.com/ Chelsea Farnsworth

#2!  It’s eye-catching and gives the sense of ‘hope’ while the other too look more ‘desperate’.  I don’t know if that makes any sense…no sleep, too much coffee, I need this book now! =)

  • Buffi

#2 or #3. 3 says it all but 2 brings a sense of peace once you catch your breath.

  • Malinda

I think #3 is the best!

  • http://twitter.com/JendisJournal Jendi

I like number 1 because it seems like she has found some hope in the yellow flowers. Number 2 would be my second choice. Number 3 seems like she has given up.

    • Cynthia Mar10

I agree! Number 1 is the best. Being in that field of flowers means I have time for me. Time to stop and enjoy the things I enjoy.

Number 2 looks like she is still searching. Number 3 looks like she is totally overwhelmed and has given up.

    • http://debbiesdigest.blogspot.com/ DebbiesDigest

I agree… I like #1 the best. Having time to enjoy flowers/nature is one of my top things to restore my soul.

  • Goldenprayerbear

    3. This woman looks ready to breathe.  I don’t like #2 at all.  Too dark. Feels discouraging to me.

  • Samantha LaFountain

    I like #3 best too.

  • Erika Crowl

    #2 or #3

#3–there’s a story there that I didn’t get with the first two. 🙂

#3, all the way to the bank, proverbial and hopefully physical.

  • Lindsey M Bell

    #3 definitely. Love it!!

  • Maggie Hogan

Love love love #3. I think her posture can be “read” many ways, which I appreciate. Water always makes me feel peaceful and the words are clean and readable. Beautiful and I would pick it up
    Congratulations again!

  • Akneen4hisglory

    # 1… It is beauty that she finds. It looks so peaceful. Love the flowers and time to commune with the Lord! ~ relaxing

  • http://www.llamadasparaelbien.wordpress.com/ Gaby Lagos

    like the third one!!!!

  • http://theresathomas.wordpress.com/ Theresa

    ONE 🙂 <3

  • http://www.anordinarymom.com/ ali @ an ordinary mom

I really do like 3, though it makes me feel like I might fall off of that wall… I think, if pressed for an answer, I’d have to go with 2, something about it makes me want to look more.

  • http://twitter.com/jkegeiger KGeiger

#3 describes how I feel most of the time, but #2 looks more like where I want to be more of the time.  Hard choice…. #2

  • http://www.astoryofgrace.com/ Janelle

Number three all the way, hands down, yes!

  • Ashley

I find the the color palette of #3 to be most soothing of the three. And something about the woman lying horizontal really conveys how it feels to be desperate. I think it tells the potential reader “I get it, and I can help.”

  • Ruthchowdhury

I like #3 the best. So can relate. 🙂

  • Zaire

#3.  The italicized the and to on #2 feel very strange to me.

  • Ashley

Oh, and personally? This mom who needs to breathe would NOT be able to breathe in a field of waist high flowers! Haha!

  • KristenJ

#2 I can think of no other way to describe it, but the Holy Spirit comes on me every time I look at book cover #2. Many blessings as you continue on this journey! P.S. I am loving your reboot…it is perfect timing for me! I even redid my nightstand before I read today’s challenge!

  • Kristine McGuire

I’m voting for number 2. It grabs your attention to let you know something good is awaiting you inside. 🙂

  • Juliegumm

#3 for sure. Makes me giggle a little and captures those “need to breathe” moments without seeming depressing.

  • Kim Funk

    The third one.

  • Andi

#3, looks like a beach vacation and i love the “breath” that’s being taken by the woman Best of Luck!

  • Erica

#3 is my favorite.  I could never breathe in that field of flowers with my allergies 🙂  I think the woman in #3 looks like I feel…surrendered and ready to take it all in – bring it on!

  • http://profiles.google.com/bethanylebedz Bethany LeBedz

#3 for sure. Although I would definitely need to breathe if I were in that field in #1 because of allergies; sadly, that’s what that picture reminds me of.

  • Yvonne

    #3…

  • Krystle Porter

#3! 😉 Love them all though!

  • Alicia Hart

I first thought 1 then 3!  I like the grey in 1 and the photo in 3

  • Vince and Lillian Gimmelli

I definitely love cover number 3. It shows the mom needs to stop and breathe. #1 and 2 mom is still walking around standing…#3 shows that mom stops everything and breathes. I like it and wish I can do that too at times. Looking forward to the book.

  • Bekafox9

#3. hands down. I feel like that is me on there…..

  • Mrs. C

The last one, definitely.  It’s perfect for the title.  The first lady looks too happy in that field of flowers.ha

    #3 definitely.

  • Trezlen

    #1

  • http://www.chasing-eden.com Alle McCloskey

I’m gonna jump in with the majority here and say #3 – she oozes “Desperate,” yet has her perspective in the right place (looking up).  And there is space to do that “breathing.”  My two cents. Love ya!  Proud to call you my friend!

  • Christina

Number 3 for sure! One just feels outdated and two looks more like a pregnancy book. I love three… it screams “this is you, right? Desperate! Help! Give me a break and let me breath!”

  • Jen

    #3

  • http://sewcarolinaknits.blogspot.com/ Carolina

    I vote for #2

  • http://www.WhimsySmitten.com/ Cara Sexton

Although I like #1 better visually, I have to agree that #3 says “Desperate” a little more than the others. Except I can’t stop looking at her neck and wondering why it looks like she has a neck brace on. Sorry, my weird detail focus is distracting my brain.

  • http://www.backwoodswife.ca/ Jen

Definitely number 3!  One and two are nice, but I find the yellow flowers and the sunlight a bit glaring (working on getting over a headache over here) but three I can look at no problem.  The colours are vibrant, yet soothing.   And, like some others have mentioned, I can feel the emotion.  Three is also much more unique.

  • Christina Lang

    I like 1 and 3, but 3 is my fave 🙂

  • Daniel

Love #3! Looks great! Really depicts the bottom description.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Elizabeth-P-Deans/1440903668 Elizabeth P. Deans

    # 3 is creative, honest and is a great way to get the mental picture of being flat out desperate and open to God’s attention and gifts.

I think my choices would be #3 first #2 second and #1 last.

I also like number 3 best!  Good luck and congrats on the book!

  • Sabrina

    #3 for sure.

  • Brittany C.

The one that caught my eye the most was #2 at first, but the more I look it at the more I think #3 goes with the book title.

  • Sarahevan5

I like #1 the best…..but boy is 3 winning heehee

  • alwaysalleluia

    #3 is it!!! Fabulous!!

  • http://www.frugalfemina.com/ Katie @ Frugal Femina

I like #2, but my fave is #3.

  • Stacey

#2.  The first one is too “old” looking.  Your book is “modern” 🙂  And the third one looks like she’s just relaxing and having a good time.

  • Melynda Bonner

#3 got my attention.  Only I would have her hands stretching to  heaven.

  • Shari

#3 !!  Looks so relaxing- like she can finally breathe.

I like # 3–it looks comfortable and comforting.

  • Tabitha Lehman

    #3!!

  • Amanda

#3. They are all so beautiful, but I feel like that image conveys the message the best.

  • Katie Dallas

i like number 2, number 3 is my next choice. I would probably naturally pick up number 2 for some reason.

  • Sheree G.

    #3, for me!!

  • Rosalind

I like #3!!!  #1 is ok but reminds me of a romance novel pic.  I also couldn’t figure out why she’s in a field of flowers with so much pollen when she’s needing to breathe.  We have bad allergies so I guess that’s the brain link.  I didn’t like #2.  #3 is the best.  The title, content and picture all go together.  I’d definitely buy #3.

  • Shonda

At first I liked #1, but I think #3 is more desperate!

  • Alyssa Bentham

    Definitely #3

  • Godprovides4us

    Three please 🙂

  • Jennifer Bias

For me, #1. It looks like a place I can just “breathe.”

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/WMD5NRCUKHY3FX5X2S7CLPQSJY Lance & Kathleen

LOVE #3.  As a matter of fact, I’d like to be doing that right about now…

  • Melissa

#1…the other ones are too depressing…#3 makes me dizzy.  🙂  #1 catches the eye and gives hope.

  • Kelly Milligan

    #2!!!!

  • Angel Buck

    I Love #3!!!

  • Acornacres

#2…a mom to 6, 3 with special needs…I sometimes feel like I’m in a fog.

  • http://texasmomquilts.wordpress.com/ Kathy M

They’re all beautiful, but I think #3 captures the exhaustion and desperation of a woman whose reserves are “all used up.”

  • Paula @ The Tween & Me

Love #3!  Beautiful and it just seemed to connect with me.  I wanted to read it immediately!

  • Barbi

#1….. hope comes in bright colors.

  • Mrs. P.

    Definitely 3.

  • Theresa

    Number 3!!

  • Melissa

But I do like the font and typeface on #2…

  • Rochelle

    #1 – I love the bright yellow – resonates w/hope!

  • Spawithroze

    Love # 3!!

  • Ginger

    #3!!

  • http://eachdaygodsway.wordpress.com/ Leah

#3 is my favorite, followed by #1, then #2.  That being said, they are all beautiful!

    #3 is my favorite

  • http://www.icanteachmychild.com/ Jenae

    I like #2 best.  🙂

  • http://heathfamily7.wordpress.com/ Tara H

    I like #1.

  • Lenamaire1

#3 conveys the message that you want to send. Reminds me of a mom who really needs a break!

  • Noellengod

    #3

  • Jolie

    #3 She looks more desperate.

  • KellyK

    I like #3

  • agodlyhomemaker

  • Becki

all 3 are lovely, but #3 conveys the message, you are going for. the other two look peaceful

  • Jenn

I like number two. It looks more timeless and it’s visually balanced. One is okay. Three is awkward, to me and the picture of the woman totally stands out and the title is sort of lost. No matter what is chosen, though, it still totally looks like a book I would want to read. 🙂

  • Megan Mattinson

I think the haze in the second one makes it feel like she’s distant and separated and, well, desperate.  The third one is neat, too, but lying out there looks so relaxing and fun that I don’t read it as desperate.

  • Maria

    I love #1~

  • http://www.mother-mel.blogspot.com/ Melanie Grant

no 3, because that’s what I would do

  • Lydiasenn

    3!

  • Megantwade

    #1; yellow is so hopeful!

  • Rebekah

    Number 2!

  • happy2bme79

    #3

  • H.B.

I like #3 because I can see myself doing that when I need to breath (more so than walking in a field of flowers).

  • Joanna Adams

    #3 is awesome!

  • Amanda Cross

Well, I like all three backgrounds, but the women look so depressed and sad. Just the title makes me think it’s gonna be emotional. I would say number 3 is probably the best out of all three. I would like number 1 best if the woman were looking up toward the sky with her hands raised.

  • Vicki W.

For sure #3!  It reminds me of me!  When I need breathing room, I run till I can`t run any more, and would like to just collapse where I stop running!

  • Karengraff2005

#3- is the best – most likely would take a closer look at the book with that cover– the other two make me want to sneeze– not a good match with breathing.

  • Patty Christie

    #3 definitely…Oh I’m so excited for you!!

  • Sarah

    #1

  • http://www.themostperfectgift.com/ Dawn @ The Most Perfect Gift

    #3!!! Definitely!

  • mrspriceisright

    #3, please!

  • Amanda Cross

Well, I change my mind on number 3. It looks like she is gonna jump off or roll over off of the wall…#1, but change how the woman stands…she looks pitiful. I would hope to feel hopeful after reading this book, but the pictures look like I would sink after reading…

  • http://www.facebook.com/jennifer.vanschoyck Jennifer VanSchoyck

    #3!!!!!

  • RG

I like #1 & #3, and I can see how each picture relates to the topic of the book, but #3 looks more… well… desperate.

  • Sarah Miller

I think #3 captures desperation and peace all at once… certainly no small task!

  • Larisa

    #1, & #3 is my second choice

  • http://www.throughthecalmandthroughthestorm.blogspot.com Cristi

    #3

  • http://maasupdate.blogspot.com/ Sonja Maas

#3. It looks like I feel when I’m desperate. It also looks like where I’d love to be – alone and by water (It draws me to the Living Water.) when I am in need of hope, when I need to breathe.

  • Monkae2001

    # 3

  • Clm_sam

    I like #3

  • Katyorba

#3! I can feel my desperation AND the breath of God all in that one picture!

  • Jeniffer

#3! #3! For sure.  You can see that she is desperate and perhaps worn out but the blue in this case seems to point to hope.  The cool breeze that will allow her to breathe, the hope that is  available.

  • http://medievalchristianreflections.blogspot.com/ Michelle

Sigh. Why must I always be among the minority!:) I like number 2 best because of the artwork. It’s gorgeous but it also shows the end result of what reading a book like Desperate should bring!  Number three certainly conveys a strong message of being desperate, but I like to see artwork that conveys the end result, rather than the beginning problem!

    Does that make any sense?

    • Stacie

I get what you’re saying, but #3 conveys that for me. She has so much room, air to breath, and it’s as if she has all the time in the world. #2 feels too crowded to me…makes me feel encroached upon. So interesting how we view those two covers so differently!!

    • Rebecca

Totally agree with you! I guess I’m in the minority as well, but number 2 has my vote. Before even analyzing too deeply, just as far as colors are concerned, #1 = too yellow, #3= too blue, #2= this Goldilocks’ “just right.”

    • http://true-l-o-v-e-never-dies.blogspot.de/ Iris

I was thinking the same. Number two just shows something calm and peaceful something a mother reading this book is looking for! Totally agree!

    • Sarah

Number two for me!  Exactly what Michelle is thinking up above there…the end result.

    • Jess

      That is a good point.

  • Natashadevries

    I like #2 but I would probably buy #3!

  • The2fields

I like #3 for sure. Although her collapsed in the middle of a pile of laundry and toys would seem more “desperate”… 🙂

  • Janie

    #3 is my favorite.

  • http://findsforfriends.com/ Carissa

#3! Definitely depicts “desperate” the best!

  • Christinaburrell

    #1

  • Brandi

    I vote for #3!  🙂

  • Tambra

#3! 1 & 2 look too predictable, same ol’ same ol’. #3 would get my attention & make me pick it up.

  • Crunchybubblez702

    I would go with #3.
I feel like I’ve seen the first 2 before.

  • Kathy QB

number 3 fits the title and is very relatable!  Thanks for asking our opinion, can’t wait to read it!

  • Erin Gandy

    #3!!!

  • Lori G.

Number 1 is my first choice, then number 2.

  • Kmegaro

    I like 3 best

  • Nancy Zuniga-Walck

I love #3 it does look like she finally found a place to take a second to “breathe” like she finally escaped (cant wait to read all these books)

  • http://www.livingjoel225.com/ Christine

#3. Very hard choice though. So excited for you!

  • Paint N Pajamas

#3 looks a lot more like the desperate mom I’ve been!! Exhausted, in sweats & ready to lie down AnYWHERE! ;o) Love it!!

  • Elizabeth

    I love #3!

  • Stephanie Perryman

I love #3! Definitely stands out more to me as feeling what the title describes. 🙂

  • Faith-hopeandlove

I love #3. It looks relaxing which is something all moms dream of. 🙂

  • Lori

I pick #1.  Can almost smell the flowers.

  • http://www.rockstarlifestyleblog.com Raye Cage

Numbers 1&2 are predictable ways to depict  taking a breath. I choose #3. It looks like  someone who is expressing a desperate need to breathe.

  • Dawn Acero

Number two is lovely and truly attracted my eye and my curiosity!

  • Russellbunch9

Love number 2, but number 3 seems to fit the title of the book best to me!

  • monica

    I LOVE #1, but #3 is a close second.

  • Schlagelkris

#1 right when I saw it.   Perfect!!

  • Kendall

    #2!

  • Emily S

    #3

  • Brandy J.

    3…Love it!

  • Rhona

I love number 3! It reminds me of me! Can’t wait to read it!

  • Mary Thompson

    I like #3…..

  • Karyn

Love No 1 the most 🙂

  • guest

#3 I believe it conveys the title, {desperate} the best.

  • Amy Pires

#3 is the best one!  The ocean = peace!!!!

  • http://memyselfandmercy.blogspot.com/ Mary Bonner

    THREE!!! It is perfect…IMHO 🙂

  • Lynisha

    #1!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1441729519 Amy McDaniel

    #3 is best!

  • Macfife

#3. The other two look like every other women’s bible study book I’ve ever seen. Bleck!

  • Christa Wilson

As a photographer I love number two.  BUT for what your book conveys I believe number three is the way to go! I’d love to lie there like that…in peace…and breathe.

  • Amber T

#3 For sure. I feel like her position says it all, lol!

  • Claire

    Love #3!!!!

  • Sommer Sorenson

I think #3 is the best…it really “speaks” the title.  It looks like I feel sometimes and how I wish I could just lay in the open and breathe in the freshness.

  • Lenorediviney

I would say #3 is my fave. seems the most to-date. #1 is a close second, I really don’t care for the soft focus of #2. makes my think I left my contacts out. =)

  • Heidi

    #3 for sure.

  • Gretaoh

#3 speaks to me, and I’m definitely a mom who needs to breath!

  • http://www.facebook.com/rebecca.busenitz Rebecca Busenitz

#3 is the most emotionally drawing. It’s clean, clear, and forceful.  It depends on if you want to draw attention to “Hope” or “Desparate”. Personally, I would go for the book that looks the most like how I feel at the moment – because I know it will apply to me.

  • Keri Tidwell

#1–Love it and can’t wait to read it!

  • Lindsay S

#3 hands down! it’s more inviting to me because the mom is “down” and I can relate better. Plus, the colors seem a little more appeasing to the eye. LOVE it.

  • http://www.indueseason.net skottydog

Can men vote, too? If so, I vote for #3!
    Love the new header, too!
    Can I vote for a male companion guide while we’re at it? ;^}

Thanks for all you do, Sarah! Loving the June challenge so far!

  • Pam

#3. It immediately spoke to me. 😀

  • http://www.facebook.com/andrea.mielkeschroer Andrea Mielke Schroer

#3 speaks to me.  1 and 2 make me think of allergy medication commercials.  Of course, those folks want to be able to breathe, too…

    • Debra G

      Ha!  That’s exactly what I was thinking…hayfever!

  • Hall Jennifer16

They all are really good but I think #3 is my favorite!

  • Rosann

    #3 definitely!!  🙂

  • GuestJen

    1 or 3

    • GuestJen

To clarify, the colors are more catching in 1 and 3, and the placement of the book title is what catches the eye (more so in #1), which inevitably could catch more sales.

  • Karen

#3, I would not be drawn to #’s 1 and 2 at all.

  • cardewallen

    #2 for sure!

  • Melissa Hendrix

I don’t really care for the first one (a little two old fashioned looking).  Second one is nice but I really like #3!!

  • Sallyjohart

    #2

  • Jimmy Proulx

    I like #3.

  • http://ihaveitchyfingers.blogspot.com/ Jessica Jensen

    #3!

In the other two it bothers me that the woman is looking down.  She looks depressed, not pressed.  A woman pressed and under the pressure of motherhood is the idea that I think you are trying to convey.  That is why I think the head down is maybe confusing.

  • Lindsey

    I like number 3!!!

  • Olivia

    I pick #3!!

  • Weezej

Number one looks so relaxing but I can so feel what she feels in number 3!!!

  • Steph

#2 speaks to me. Beautiful sparkling Hope of Christ. The grey skies in #1 make me a little sad, # 3 says… “for the one who doesn’t even have the energy to read the book”. However, they really are all beautifully done!!

  • Jhocno197

    #3!

  • http://www.CleverColleen.com/ Clever Colleen

THREE for sure!!  The other ladies don’t look ‘desperate’ at all.  In fact, I envy them.  😉 Kidding.  Seriously though, the third one is perfect!

  • Sarah Cooper

    I like #3 the best.

    How exciting!!

  • Bthbrks

    I prefer #3 also.

  • Ccl

#3 is my favorite, #1 is the runner up –in my humble opinion. 🙂

  • Jessica

    #2!!!

  • http://whileonthisside.blogspot.in/ Birdie

NUMBER 2! I like how the pastel overlay blends in the mother with her surroundings (not separating her from them) yet the light is very noticeable. It also seems as though she is humbling herself to where she has been placed & bowing her head to reflect & pray & be at ease. Just looking at number two makes me feel like I can breathe, the other two, to me, seem like more of an escape/vacation by themselves!

  • Lisasm95

I really like #3.  #2 would be my second choice, but #3 is my fav.

  • http://stopnsmellthechocolates.blogspot.com/ StopnSmellChocolates

Looks I’m also in minority (but I wonder if different ones appeal to different people based on age) – I love #1. The yellow flowers and almost haunting feeling draw me in and would cause me to pick up the book to see what it was about. I don’t care for #2. #3 fits the idea but I would pass it by, assuming it was just another typical Christian book for women – nothing special. I don’t know why – that’s just how the covers make me feel – LOL! Hugs!! 🙂

  • Jan

Number three.  No question or hesitation.

  • http://www.oursimplecountrylife.com/ Oursimplecountrylife

They all have there own beauty to them. However, when I think of a desperate mom, I think of:  a woman sitting behind a door with her hands in her lap…with children 3 or 4 children on the other side… one crying, one banging on the door and so forth. {You get the idea!} ;0) Non of these truly display a woman who is desperate. #3 looks like the woman has given up. A woman described above behind a door shows she searching and needs help to breathe. I’m an odd ball, I know. :0)

    Much Love & Blessings,

I definitely like # 1 the best! The woman looks like she is taking time to “stop and smell the roses”, although in her case, it is pretty yellow wildflowers- lol! I also think the contrast of colors- yellow and blue- are more eye-catching, but that’s just me!

  • Nicole

    I like 3 the best

    Yep…number 3!

    #1 I’m not crazy on…don’t know why…. #2  I really liked and thought “yep, that one”,  until I saw #3….  it’s definitely #3!

    Number 2

  • Plaidjenn

    #3, #3, #3!!!!!! all the way!!!!

  • Terry S

I like #3 because she looks like she is taking a deep breath of fresh air.

  • Sarah

3! It’s most interesting. 1 or 2 seem like feminine hygiene product images. (sorry)

  • Heather

I vote #1, there is something inviting about the colors.  I would definitely pick it up and look at the store.

  • Angieg

    i like #1
    The yellow caught my eyes!

  • Rebbieann87

    i like 2 and 3 best

  • Kirsten Goff

I think #3 is the best because that’s exactly how I feel after a day at work and  coming home to the giant list of things to do! A moment of peace to catch your breath and relax is the best!

  • Tynisia Garcia

For sure #3…it makes me wanna jump right into reading it!  I love the different shades of blue and how they fade to grey and I feel like I can relate to the woman in the photo.

  • Kristy Lynn

I love the downturned head of #2, as if she has her head bowed in prayer. Plus the haziness of the picture even though the sun is out because when we are in a place of desperation the whole world becomes a haze! It is beautiful too 🙂

  • Cathy B.

My vote is definitely for number 3!

  • http://profiles.google.com/blacknerdsunite B T

    #3, oh yes ma’am!

  • Teish

I like option three the best. The woman in the photo just looks like she’s had “one of those days” and really does need to breathe!

  • Melissa M.

    I like cover #3.

  • Cheyenne

I love #2.  It somehow manages to convey both desperation and hope.  It looks like the dawn after a dark night.  #1 is nice too – the bright yellow flowers are very eyecatching.  I didn’t like #3 as much.  It’s too depressing.  She looks like she wants to jump off that wall and end things but doesn’t have enough energy.

  • Mandylynn1028

    Definitely #3! I can relate.

  • Carol

I like the one with the woman laying on the wall.  It looks like she has laid herself down for God to do what He will with her.  Breathtaking.

  • Monika

    I love number 3!

  • Jennifer

#3 and #1 would be my second pick.

  • Nena

I like number 1 with the font from number 2!!!!

  • Sarah

    Number 2, definitely.

  • Audra Silva

Number 1 makes me think of allergies.
Number 3 seems void of hope.

Number 2 draws me. Feels like she’s prayerful and contemplative. A woman
seeking God for answers to tough life moments.

  • Brianna Preston

I AM that desperate mama. So, since I know what I’m talking about (ha!), #3 is definitely the one I feel like most sometimes. It hits at the reality of just how desperate one can feel–the kind of desperation that everyone feels sometimes, but no one talks about.

  • http://www.facebook.com/sjwinson Sarah Callahan Winson

I love the third one.  I agree it looks like she is just done in.  Looks great!!

  • ~Lynn

    # 1 is best to me.  The flowers represent something wonderful to breathe. Yellow is welcoming and cheerful and we need that as mothers.  # 2 is a pretty, lighter feel but also gives me the feeling of calmly breathing, which is equally important.  # 3 to me is my least favorite as it does gives you the more ‘down’ side in my opinion.   But…. this is just an opinion!

  • Katie

    It’s really hard to choose between #1 & #3…. But I think I like #3 just a tad better!!

#3 with comments. I would take out the distressed look, darken the blue in the sky a bit, not much but some, and move the title up a smidgen. Use the subtitle from cover two on cover three.

    Bill Jensen

    ~hi Sarah!

  • Ttibernier

#3 is the one that best describes the title for me!

  • Jamie

I love #3.  She is desperate for sure, but also shows how it must be on the upside when she can finally breathe…plus, the blue above is so inviting as if she’s looking to the heavens for answers and inspiration.  This picture portrays the dual symbolism of desperation and finally, relaxation.

  • Jenniferlhaas

THREE!!!! Why? Because that is how I feel and the beauty that I seek.

  • Emily

#3   I like the fact that she is looking up. I like the water in the background – fresh sea air goes well with the idea of ‘breathing’

  • http://profiles.google.com/bookworm0709 Betsy Negley

  • Beth Williams

I love #3.  It truly shows a desperately tired mom!

  • Monica Pruett

#2 is my favorite.  #1 is too granola – due to hair, # 3 is confusing – she seems more like a desperate teen than a mom

  • Jennifer Satterfield

    I like #2 best 🙂

  • Vickie

    #2

  • Anna

#3…The woman looks like she may be “desperate”, just needs to lay down and breathe. The first 2 are nice but look too peaceful for a book called “desperate.”

#2 its absolutely beautiful. That is the one that would catch my eye on a shelf full of books.

  • Writeon4God

#3 — catchy, descriptive. Numbers 1 and 2 look preachy, fluffy, stereotypical, generic. Did I say #3? Even a non-Christian might pick it up because it looks like it might contain real meaty answers.

None. I want to see a woman kneeling in desperation where her surroundings are bleak. If you had woman #1 kneeling in picture #3, then that would look more desperate.

    Three by a landslide! 🙂

  • Amie

    Number 3!

  • Emma

    Definitely 3!

  • Jmac 80

Definitely #3!!!  #1 makes me want to sneeze or take allergy medicine, and the yellow just seems to scream at me, not calming at all.  #2 looks like she’s walking in a haze…depressing!  #3 is calming with clarity and a sense of peace, like a person CAN finally breathe.

  • kristen

i like 1 the best, and 3 is my second.  2 reminds me of someone grieving for some reason.  but i do agree with some other comments that 3 captures the title best (still favor #1 – would grab my attention on the shelf and make me wanna read)

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=501721807 Laurel Cowser Haines

    #3 for sure!

  • Christiana

    THREE (3):)

  • Creativegifts

I agree with Erin.  I like # 3 the best.

  • Valeska

Sorry, but I don’t feel as though any of the covers correlate with the title.  A desperate mom to me is a mom with a stack of dishes in front of her, laundry piled up behind her, children that need something all around her, looking up to heaven, praying for wisdom and help. Basically someone who is drowning in her demanding role of being a wife, mother and homemaker, not able to breathe. But if I had to choose one of the covers provided, I’d go with #3.

  • carrie

    # 3 for sure—-the other 2 have too many flowers/foliage and it looks harder to breathe in those scenes than the one in #3

  • Beverly Steele

    My vote goes for #3…

  • anotherbattlewon

I really like Number 2, but Number 3 has a touch of humor that usually draws me in.

  • Lauren

Most definitely #3.  Breath of fresh air!  (The first one is nice coloring, but doesn’t convey the message very well and is not as striking as three.  Two is my least favorite.  In fact, I don’t really care for it at all–too blurred of a picture and the letters don’t pop at all.)

  • Ppreacherswife

I LOVE #2.  I love the sun light shining so brightly just over her head. I also saw her as walking along  desperate but it’s like the light of Christ is showering down upon her.

  • Andrea

33333333333333!  The other images are beautiful, but do not capture the title.  Image 3 has contrast, an abrubtness in the composition, and it puts me in a place where I feel what that woman feels.  All I want to do is look at the sky, the nothingness, and forget everything that is troubling me!  All I want to do is look up to my Lord and Savior and melt into the earth.  Totally!

  • http://alyssaavant.com/blog Alyssa Avant

#3 speaks best of the title

  • Lynne Brons

    #2

  • Andrea

Also…neither image one or image 2 has the woman looking up AND breathing…I think that is the important part in image 3.  Plus, to some of us, a field full of goldenrod is not necessarily the best place to breathe.

  • c.c.

#3 – it shows a mom catching her breathe, which is the goal of the book I believe. I don’t understand the comments about wanting something that actually portrays desperation.  I want something to look forward to, not to dwell in the bad days.

  • Sarah S

     I like #3 the best

  • Kim

    #3

  • Jenn

3…it reminds me of my difficult days of my illness, where even laying down hurts, and feels suffocating, but when you can let go, it’s the only thing that makes it bearable. It feels like the answer might be on the other side of the wall…

I like the third one because when I am desperate and need time to breath I want to relax laying down with not a soul around,  nice ocean breeze would be an added bonus.

#3-Overwhelmingly!!! Just looks so relaxed after a weary day.

#1-if you suffer from allerigies-seeing that picture and reading the words, “Hope for the Mom who Needs to Breathe” would make me think- “I can’t breath in all those flowers!” 😉
#2 image is difficult to see what it is.

  • http://www.finding-hope.com/ Finding Hope

I love #3. LOVE it. This is where I want to go when I’m feeling desperate. Somewhere peaceful where I can lie down and breathe. LOVE it. 🙂

  • Jefforynkimberly

    I am voting #2!

  • J Marsh

My favorite is #1. There’s a boldness to it, yet a delicateness. To me the woman is bowing her head before God, in utter need of Him…and she’s surrounded by His beautiful creation. #2 is gorgeous, and my second choice. IMHO, #3 looks too casual, nonchalant. Doesn’t speak desperate to me.

  • Mrsyelle

Definitely 3! The first reminds me of a certain feminine cleansing product commercial. LOL!

  • http://4ambassadorsofchrist.blogspot.com/ Jarmila V. Del Boccio

Yep…#3…the other two look like the covers of romance novels…as beautiful as they are!

  • Catherine

#3 is my favorite.  I like that her face is looking up instead of down plus it just seems like a more modern image.

  • Normacr1

I like the first one… The third cover looks like she has given up.

  • Elizabeth

I love #1. The colors and look of calm really draw me in.

  • TracyDK

    I like #3 most.

  • Kmesser483

    The first one

  • Melea Ann

Wow! It is amazing how everyone has such different takes on these covers! I like 1 best, then 2, and my least favorite is 3.
Reading the subtitle made me look at these three pictures with the thought “what one makes me want to take a deep breath and really inhale rest and peace? The answer was 1. Picture 2 made me want to choke because the picture is so hazy you don’t feel you can breath- definately not a restful picture to me. Picture three is just blah, boring, and doesn’t make me want to breath at all.

There’s my two cents (or maybe two dimes ;)!

  • http://profiles.google.com/hisbelovedblog Stephanie Hardy

    #2 is my favorite!

  • Blackpaperbird

I think #3 conveys the emotion of the title best.

I know you didn’t ask for detailed critique, but I was a print and graphic layout designer, so I did study these things (in case anyone thinks I’m just being fussy).

I would use the ‘hope for the mom who needs to breathe’ from #2, without the italics on ‘the’ and ‘to’ (which I don’t think makes sense linguistically… if anything had to be italicized it should be ‘hope’ and ‘needs’… but that would make an ugly font balance) – I’d make it all caps, with single-line spacing in-between the two lines (since you want it to flow as one sentence, it’s a little too spread apart for comfort if I were to just glance at it).

Also, I’d shift the author names higher up (about the same spacing from the top as between the lady’s hand and the bottom), and place the book title directly below the author names, keeping the current spacing between the book title and the top of ‘hope…’ – to leave room to ‘breathe’ at the bottom (ha, ha. but really), because of the nature of the photo I think it would look better.

Hope that helps! This is just what I imagine might look better, though not having the actual file to adjust I can’t really say for sure. I could be wrong. Feel free to disregard the other stuff if you only want to choose between these three designs and not tweak anything else.

  • Jenwegwitz

Prefer number 3 as first pick then 2 as 2nd choice. Picture is definitely worth 1000 words and think 3 looks like a mom who has run out of umph or searching for guidance. Number 2 evokes the light that’ll come from finding your way out of the low valleys in your life.

#3 looks like a winner to me!  She looks exactly how I feel on a daily basis.  Only I can’t go lay near the ocean to relax…..

  • Janelle Allen

I like #3. The first two remind me of covers for books that would have been published circa 1977.  I would be more apt to pick up #3 in a bookstore.

  • Deby_do

  • Kim

#3 – definitely. When I’m walking through a field of flowers, I don’t typically feel desperate. When I’m at the end, desperate for God, help, air. When I cannot stand anymore – I feel like the woman on the cover of #3. All I can do is lay myself out before my Father in heaven.

  • Deborah

I love number three.  Not just that she looks like she needs to catch her breath—for me, when I see that picture, I see a dream come true….. the opportunity to lie still, face up, staring into the sky, just me and God and no one else with wide open spaces all around me.  Silence.  Stillness.  Yes!
    🙂  Blessings to you!

I am a bit with the crowd who say none. It doesn’t shout ‘mother’ loudly but perhaps that’s the aim. I do feel 1 looks too stormy and there’s a sense of bereavement also of fiction. I think of those with the others as well. I probably find 2 most balanced to look at but think 3 looks more real life like. So much personal taste…!!!

She looks like she’s soaking up a few moments of silence and wishing desperately that she could stay longer…almost like she’s grieving the brevity of this moment alone.  She knows that she needs more inspiration than even this beautiful field of flowers can bring her to be able to return to her children with strength and perseverance.  She looks defeated, like she’s praying for hope.

  • Pamela

I love all three.  I am tore between 1 and 3.

  • Reka

    I like the #3!

  • Angie

    #3

  • Jennifer

I like #3 best, with #1 as my second option.  #2 to me lacks clarity and feels claustrophobic.

  • Joy C.

I like #3 the best!  Number 2 is in second place.

  • Monica Dean

#1 is pretty and peaceful but ordinary in the world of book covers. #2 is beautiful and artsy and I love it. But #3 is how I feel right now so that is the book I would pick up. The first two could be about anything. The last one grabs me and says “this is you, you totally need to read this book and find out what that woman has found”. Or the desperate frazzled mother like other comments. Good luck.

  • Hkcmom2

    #3 is the best!!

  • kat

I like #3 best of all.

  • Adrienne Young

I agree with the other ladies.  Three is exactly how I feel at this very moment.  I would pick this book and start reading it immediately.  Blessings to you Sarah Mae!  God is definitely enlarging your territory, and thank you for allowing us to be part of it.

  • Babbers

I liked #2 the best.  #3 would be my second vote

  • Nicole

Number three is catchy!  I like this one the best!!

  • Hannahd3

    #3!  Love it!

  • Hmleuci

    #3 hands down!

  • Jennifer

Number three. I have had moments as a parent when all I could do is lay down and keep breathing.

  • Michelle

Interesting to read everyone’s view.   I pick 3.  I don’t feel like shes given up.  I thought she found a place to just lay and be; not having to exert any more energy walking threw flowers or watching for bees among the flowers! jk…  2 would be next,  I do like the artsyness of number 2.  If you had a cover of a woman desperate I think I would pass over it at this time in my life

  • Regina

I have to say my first choice is #2 and second would be #3

  • Ashley Wells

    I love number three!

And this whole new look on the blog, and tag line…it is stunningly beautiful!

  • Heather Allyce

    #3!!!

  • Carey

I think #3 is the best fit for the cover. It portrays the emotion of the title.  The other two do not quite work with the title for me.  I would pick up and read #3!  Congratulations on being so close, Sarah Mae.  You are an inspiration!  Blessings!

  • Teresa

I like #3!  The other two are pretty, but the 3rd one speaks to me…. 🙂  It fits the title and subject.

  • Gigisusan

    number three for sure!

  • Jami

    #3

  • Annie

#3 is my pick.  You can see how “desperate” she is!!

  • Rebecca Lucas

I think I’d go for #3. It draws me in the most and doesn’t seem too cheesified.

  • Shanniel Shakespeare

    I say three too…

  • http://www.sundijo.com Sundi Jo Graham

#2 seems softer, but #3 definitely catches your eye.

  • jamers5591

I like #3 best as well. They all are beautiful but the last one grabs me. 🙂

  • Carley

Cover #1!  The yellow flowers convey hope to me!

  • Michelle

  • Sheriking28

Three!!! I love the color, and to me it shows hope. I would also do just that if I needed some free time. Looking up to heaven, in the open, it looks like I could breathe there.

  • Ronnie

I like #1 the best too, the flowers remind me of lots of little children around a mom (my children are about he same height as the flowers, so that’s probably why). The “mom” looks tired but also at peace with her surroundings because she is able to see her children more like beautiful flowers full of hope that add beauty to her life and less like nuisances demanding of her time and attention.
#2 is beautiful but I don’t really see the children represented in it (not that it has to, but it just seems more fitting that it would).
#3 is a distant third for me not only because she doesnt look very comfortable at all but because it looks like she is trying to get distance from her family and looking to just get away, not that that’s bad in and of itself, but probably not the point of the book

  • Suzanna

I love #2 the best and #1 is my second favorite, but they are all beautiful and I can’t wait to own my own copy!!

  • 05soccer

I like # 3. I think it best shows the title.

  • Brandy Gainor

    #2

  • Ljdroll

Number 3 definitely!  Looks like an exhausted Mom!  #2 looks like a romance novel.

  • Debra G

I like #3 best of all.

  • Caroline

    I like #1 or 3 the best!

  • Heidi Short

    Definitely #3!  And I”m not even a mom 🙂

  • Chrissy-Bee

Mos-def the third one HAS to be it!…This depicts the moment when we  finally realize we can’t do it all alone…and we have no one to turn to who would understand…the point of surrender…the, “Lord, only YOU can help me” point…YES!!…THREE.

  • Tkrabbit

    I like #3.

  • Christy

Number four for me.  I’m not much for soft and mushy -give me real life.

  • Angela

I love #3…. I want to be the one laying on that wall!

  • Sclogan2009

oh 3!  How I remember early motherhood and this speaks to the heart of my memories. It would be great for new moms.

  • Hippie4ever2

    #3. Congratulations!

  • Heather

This is fascinating! It would be very interesting to see the age of the person who has picked what to see if any trends result. #2 is my preference but I understand why #3 is the frontrunner. If #3, I think the designer needs to give it one more go. 🙂

  • guest

#2 gives me hope that I can survive motherhood!

  • Joy

Number 2 is my vote. 🙂

  • Jbirthmom

#2 speaks the loudest to me.

  • Afaithfullheart

    #3!!!

I like #2 the best, with my second choice being #3.

  • anita

Definately #3.  I get a sense of relief, as if that woman finally found that quiet place to be alone with God and her thoughts. Sometimes I just feel “desperate” to have a space to relax and breathe without anyone tugging on my hands or my heart, a place where I can “be” and not have to “do”.

    I like #3 the best!

  • http://yestheyareallours.com/ Elizabeth

They are all beautiful — but #3 is the one that most stirs my soul!

  • Leslie

I like #3.  It goes with the title the best.

  • Breana

#3 I think is perfect. I also like #2, but the italics on the subtitle seem out of place.

  • Lisa Suit

    I like #3 the best!! 🙂

  • Kat

    number 3

  • Camey

    #3 is my fav!

  • melissa

I think #1 would draw me to it in a book store because of the bright colors.  When I first saw this post I literally sucked my breathe in, it was so beautiful.  I would walk right past two… thinking it had to do with depression… and I like three but maybe for a back cover. You want something that will stand out and draw people in…

  • MScherger

Number three is great, but #2 gets my vote! Beautiful.

  • Amazedbyu02

It seems that I am following the group on this. I would choose number three 🙂

  • Caggy20

#3 hands down! I think that any mom can relate to that picture and the need to look up!

  • jess

oooh, I like them all! The colour scheme is beautiful for all three, but the third one is my favourite, because she certainly looks desperate, and yet the sky is such a chirpy (hopeful!) colour!

    God bless!
    Jess
