This picture has nothing to do with this post, but aren’t her tootsies so cute?!

My friend Crystal from moneysavingmom.com has inspired me to be more intentional with my goal setting.

I love how she comes up with her goals and then posts them for the world to see, along with weekly and monthly updates. I’ve decided to do the same (thank you, Crystal!).

I’m a little late to the party (just like I was with my 2012 book list), so I’m planning my goals from here to December. I’ll start fresh in January. Also, Crystal’s goals were so good, I just copied some of them. Want to see what mine are? Here you go:

Goals for 2012

Personal:

Read the Word every day. Every day. I’m going to read through the Bible in a year using the ESV One Year Bible

Read through my 2012 book list (so excited about this)

Only have coffee as a special treat, not everyday (I’ve noticed that my face is clear when I don’t drink coffee – mainly because of all the creamer/sugar I have in it)

Make one new, healthy recipe per week

Focus on one habit a month

Work on loosening my grip on social media

No more texting/social media while driving (I know, I know! No more!)

Shower more (um, yea)

Work towards having more energy

Work towards being at peace/content with my life (I struggle with “calling” and what I should and shouldn’t be doing)

Marriage:

Have monthly date night with my man

Focus on really loving my husband this year – marriage is taking priority this year (I’ve let it slip)

Go on a weekend getaway for our anniversary in August (What do you say Suz?)

Children/Homeschooling:

Read the bible every morning to the babes during breakfast

One on one focused time every day with each child, even if just for 15 minutes

Monthly dates with each of my children individually

Begin first grade work with Ella (I will post what we’re doing soon)

Go on one field trip each month

Read at least 10 read-aloud chapter books to the babes

Friendships/Family:

Invite in-laws over for dinner every couple of weeks

Spend time with friends every couple of weeks (I will be intentional!)

Send cards for birthdays; send thank you notes/have my kiddos send thank you notes (I’m terrible about this)

My Home:

Do laundry every day but Sunday (seriously)

Decorate my dining room/get over my fear of decorating (Logan, help!)

Clean my sheets once/week (and for the love, get a new comforter and sheet set! I’ve been using the same one for 6 years and it’s ready to be retired)

Business/Blogging/Writing:

No work on Sundays

Stick with blogging/writing/conference planning game plan

Finish writing Having a Martha House the Mary Way

Focus on making SarahMae.com excellent

Focus on making the Allume blog and conference excellent

Per Crystal’s brilliant idea to post how she is doing with her goals on a weekly and monthly basis, I too shall do that. I’ll be posting my goal updates on Fridays (beginning next Friday). Here’s to an intentional life. WOOT!

P.S. Do you have a reading list? Link it up here!

Sarah, thank you! I wrote goals with Crystal in January and then first trimester got the best of me! I’m restarting. :)

  • Darlene

    Hi Sarah,

I subscribed to your blog. The link did not offer “31 Days to Clean”, but “From Frumps to Pumps” instead. I’d love to have “31 Days to Clean” as your offer indicated if you can fix it.

    Thanks,
    Darlene

It’s right next to the frumps to pumps – for some reason it squeezed everything together, but look closely and you’ll see ;)

      • Ivana

        Hi Sarah,

unfortunately I have the same problem as Darlene and Southern Gal. After subscribing by email I received a link to pdf “From Frumps to Pumps” – 58 pages, nothing seems to be squeezed into it :(

        • Clange70

          Me too.

          • http://www.modernchristianwoman.com/ Stephanie

Me too – I can’t seem to find where it’s squeezed in at?  Maybe I’m looking in the wrong place…

          • http://www.likeawarmcupofcoffee.com Sarah Mae

At the bottom, don’t copy and paste or click on the frumps to pumps, right after that link it should say 31 Days to Clean. I can see it in mine. It’s here: …(just copy and paste into your browser!) Get 31 Days to Clean for FREE today only! Go here:

I know people are getting it because I have lot’s of codes coming in. Check again?

          • http://www.modernchristianwoman.com/ Stephanie

I’m looking at my feedburner email subscription email – there isn’t any reference to 31 days of clean at all – only 2 links – the “activate subscription” link and the pdf of frumps to pumps – nothing listed after it.

          • http://www.likeawarmcupofcoffee.com Sarah Mae

Okay, just email me at sarahmaewrites (at) gmail (dot) com and I’ll have a copy sent to you.

          • http://www.modernchristianwoman.com/ Stephanie

Thank you so much and sorry for the trouble!

          • http://www.likeawarmcupofcoffee.com Sarah Mae

            No trouble! :)

  • http://itwasbroughtonbylove.blogspot.com/ Southern Gal

Great idea.  I subscribed by email and got the same thing as Darlene.  I have From Frumps to Pumps already.  I’d love 31 Days to Clean if it’s possible.
    Thank you!

i love this for so many reasons.  i am a horrible goal-setter—-mainly because i believe deep down that i will fail.  therefore, why set the goal in the first place?  defeating, i know.  but you inspire me.  i, just today, announced a bit of a blogging break in order to put some priorities in order much along the same lines as the ones you’ve listed, and i am EXCITED at what the Lord is doing.  i feel rejuvenated already by just voicing my expectations.  i think i’ll put together my reading list and link it up.
on a side note, just started reading 31 Days to Clean on my Kindle.  love how you’ve broken it down into manageable tasks (remember what i just said about goals).  it’s been encouraging already.
God is so good, isn’t He?  i love how He meets us right where we are.  loving.  gracious.  showing Himself in the most personal of ways.
    you bless me,
    steph

I love the clean the sheets once a week thing. Here is a personal confession of mine, I get my kids to change their sheets once a week when they clean their rooms as part of their weekend chores, however my sheets well……since I don’t have them on my chore chart I kind of forget about them. Hmmm…. maybe my goal this week should be add changing sheets to my weekly chore chart!

    Sarahmae,

I am doing 31 Days to Fit on my blog THIS MONTH, if you want to add some healthy habits to your goals. YOU gave me the GREAT IDEA to write 31 Days to Fit after I read your 31 Days to Clean!! I loved it!! And health and fitness come naturally to me so I wrote it in no time. Thank you soooo much!! I Love your site.

    • Terri Bonin

If you want 31 healthy habits this month go to boninfamilyadventures.blogspot.com :-) I love your goal setting idea. I need to revamp my home schooling goals.

    My goals for 2012:

Read/listen through the Bible in a year–this year using Todays NIV version.  Have done this for several years now.

Work out daily and walk about 60 miles a week–(only about 9 miles daily).
Run a 5K–which I did June 9th and did it in 42 minutes.  WOOT WOOT!

Have monthly date night with my man–oh yay!
Send cards for birthdays, anniversaries & thank you notes
Do more “local mission” work–see people, take food, buy supplies, etc.
    Pray more!

Your suggestions were wonderful.  Trust me you will be much happier if you accomplish just 1/2 or so of the items on your list!  God will be very pleased with your efforts!

Girl, you tell me when! You know I’ll help you again!  Love you my friend!

I need you. Please come decorate my dining room.

I’m afraid to make goals because I’m pregnant and I’m afraid my intentions won’t be good enough.

    • http://www.likeawarmcupofcoffee.com Sarah Mae

      tiny goals, my friend, tiny.

Woot! (A word I totally stole from you and now use in my everyday vocabulary!). I’m SO proud of you. Goals have sincerely and truly changed my life — and my productivity!

You can do it! I’ve got my pom-poms here and I’m doing a cheer for you. :)

By the way, I’ll volunteer for one of the spend time with friends slots! ;)

  • Allison Redd

Hi! I found your blog through MSM and you sound JUST LIKE ME. I’m going to start a little late to the party, too, and create my own goal list for the rest of the year. Thank you for posting these. I love seeing how Crystal always posts hers and blogging them would keep me accountable. Many of your goals are similar to mine — I’m also horrible about cards/thanks you’s etc. and I know I was raised to be better about that. Even though it’s the middle of summer, we’re starting homeschooling our oldest for K in August so it feels like the right time to start over again!

I declared 2012 The Year of Relationship and Habit at my house and even made a button on my blog!  So far so good.  We are slowly improving in key areas, like getting up early and household routines.  We still have a LONG way to go but it’s encouraging to see measurable improvement in areas where we’ve struggled.  The “relationship” part is going well too.  I thank God for how he is knitting our hearts together as a family!

  • Sylvia

So disappointed.  I did not receive the free 31 days to clean on July 5 as promised.  What happened?

    • http://www.likeawarmcupofcoffee.com Sarah Mae

Sylvia, just email me at sarahmaewrites (at) gmail (dot) com and I’ll send you a copy! :)

FEAR OF DECORATING!!  I am sooooo glad to hear someone else say this!  I have that same fear and I think all my friends and family think I’m nuts.  I’ve been living in my new house for 2 years and only have 1 picture hanging on the walls.  UGH!  How do we get over this crazy fear???

    • http://www.likeawarmcupofcoffee.com Sarah Mae

We make friends with an interior designer. ;)
