I’m finding the need to write out my daily and weekly goals too.  It’s so helpful to see it written down and so satisfying to check it off.  I gave up creamer and went back to drinking my coffee black a few months ago ~ it takes a little getting used to, but I feel SO much better not to have that stuff in my system.  My goals this week include getting up early for time with the Lord and early workouts too.  Not easy in the summer, but will give more time in the day!  :-)

Here’s to hoping I can learn to love black coffee!

      • Jd_sorensen

The first week black will be hard, but then no biggie!! Praying for you and thanks for the reminder to write down the weekly goals..totally need to make that a habit once again!

  • jwolstenholm

Thank you for sharing these goals with us Sarah Mae. So inspiring! I think it is a great idea to write out goals rather than just a to do list. Going to start doing this. All the best to you as you tackle them. Oh, and we LOVE Settlers! Good luck whooping the hubs!

    • http://www.likeawarmcupofcoffee.com Sarah Mae

Thanks – he always beats me, but not this week!

  • agodlyhomemaker

i am enjoying your goals and stealing a few for myself.  my number one goal is to get up early and i have don that all week!  now i am working on a school schedule- i homeschool 5  this year- so i need a workable plan!

    • http://www.likeawarmcupofcoffee.com Sarah Mae

Getting up early is going to be the hardest goal to achieve. I honestly am not sure I’m going to make it.

      • Sheryll

What works for me is having two alarms, one at the bed and another in the bathroom. Although I have been known for shutting them both off and getting back in bed. Lol

  • Beth Williams

Those are good and measurable goals.  I pray with God’s strength you will achieve ALL of them!

My goals: walk at least 10K steps daily (5 miles) or more; work out daily with either
weights, step, coreball, or video of Cardio bootcamp; eat healthy; sleep 7-8 hrs
nightly; spend time with pets & hubby; READ BIBLE DAILY.

BTW what the heck is Settlers?  Sounds like fun!

    • http://www.likeawarmcupofcoffee.com Sarah Mae

Settlers of Catan, super fun strategic game: http://www.catan.com/

      • Lisa

We love Settlers! I think I’ve beat my husband once out of a hundred games played! Oh, and I’m part of the frizz head club too. The chick that cuts my hair recently recommended Chi Enviro Smoothing Serum-it works great! I refuse to blow dry my hair every day and the serum tames the mane so I at least look presentable.

  • Kate

I had to laugh at your “I hate showering”, because I am right there with you!  Don’t get me wrong, I love to be clean, but I hate finding the time to shower, and then having to do my hair.  This is actually the number one reason I do not exercise everyday–I would be at the gym every single day if it didn’t mean washing and drying and styling my hair!  An hour trip to the gym turns into another hour at home.  Maybe we should shave our heads?  ;)

    • http://www.likeawarmcupofcoffee.com Sarah Mae

I would probably shower every day if it weren’t for my hair.

  • http://dailydwelling.com dailydwelling

I love how you wrote out your goals in categories…I may need to do this myself. I need to stay on track and focused!

Oh, and I have crazy hair, too, and it’s driving me crazy!

    • http://www.likeawarmcupofcoffee.com Sarah Mae

I just copied moneysavingmom.com – she does this!

  • Dawn Mole

You wouldn’t by chance be a firstborn would you? : )
Because as a lonely only, this is what my goal list would look like…instead of starting out easy and working my way up, I would try to totally change my whole life in one week.
Don’t be too hard on yourself!! Baby steps, baby steps!!!
We started a budget for the first time this week, and I am already feeling bummed that it isn’t working out to the exact penny. As my wise hubby reminded me, “Isn’t that why we set it up? SO we can figure out how it will work best?”
Duh. For me it is ALL or NOTHING.
Just don’t want to see you burn yourself out on the first week!!

    • http://www.likeawarmcupofcoffee.com Sarah Mae

Haha!! I so am a first born!

      Baby steps, okay, thank you!

      • Dawn Mole

        HAHAHAHA!!! I KNEW IT!!!!!

  • Carli

Wonderful goals! It seems like so much to me but I hope you accomplish them all. I need to think more about my goals. One will be to walk with my husband at least five days.

    • http://www.likeawarmcupofcoffee.com Sarah Mae

      Here’s hoping for steadfastness!

  • http://adiligentheart.com/ Marlene

I loved this! Now i’m inspired to write down my weekly goals. :o

    • http://www.likeawarmcupofcoffee.com Sarah Mae

      WOOT!

  • Angie

I’ve been working on goals this week too. And I love the way you described getting mounds of laundry done as “starting fresh.” I like just jumping in and getting it all done (and trust me…there’s MANY loads that need washed and put away). If you don’t have that habit established (a load a day), then unless you “start fresh” you really never will get caught up. I’ve been planning all week to go all gang busters on my laundry today, so I guess we’ll be crushing it out together! And have you ever heard of SendOutCards? It may be the solution to your desire to send cards to love on people. It’s been a lifesaver for me! As a matter of fact, just this past Sunday, I sang at a church and just yesterday remembered that I needed to send the Pastor a thank you card for having me. So at 11:00pm last night, sitting in my bed, I quickly made him a card and boom…done (cost…$0.93 + the of the stamp). I LOVE it! Send a card to your sister on me, if you like. Have a blessed weekend!

And 7 loads later…I’m DONE!!! Except it all needs folded, hung up and put away. I hate that part. :(

  • http://jessnewland.blogspot.com/ Jessica N.

Pretty sure we have similar hair.  We should share “tame the man” tips.  Ha!

  • Pamela

I don’t wash my hair everyday, it would be a frizz ball if I did.  I put my hair up in a bun to take a shower.   I am lucky if I get to shower everyday :)     I also want to exercise more.  I also want to purpose in my heart and purpose to stay up when I send hubby off to work to read my Bible, drink a cup of coffee, and have some alone time with the Lord.   (My day goes alot smoother when I do so.)    We are working on cursive also :) fun stuff!!!!    I also want to get in the habit of putting on some make up before my hubby gets home, not alot just some lip gloss and some bronzer.

  • Pamela

I also want to get back in the habit of making a menu for supper time.   I also want to keep up with couponing, once you get behind or skip a week it messes it all up :(

    • http://www.likeawarmcupofcoffee.com Sarah Mae

Yea, I gave up couponing years ago!

  • Kristideitrick

I love your blog and your lists and am so motivated to be more intentional with my days and weeks.  Thank you so much for sharing yours!

  • Noel McNeil

I have begun to write down all the things I want to get done in a day, and then check them off as soon as I’ve done them.  It’s a great motivator and I can see literally what I have acccomplished.  I hope this works for you!  Keep up the good work and I agree with Dawn. Baby steps.

  • Stephanie Moore

I feel like you’ve been reading my mind! I’ve been feeling kinda down in the dumps about how completely unorganized my life feels right now. I know that setting some goals would help me get back into the groove of things. Thanks for the inspiration!

3 cheers for the buckets :) !  They come in handy!  You go girl!!!

      Thanks, Courtney! :)

No showers daily? Don’t you think it’s quite weird? Seems like you are now acting like a teen. Regarding exercises, I myself find it hard to stick to the timings as I don’t like to exercise when somebody is watching me and comment “oh! You do exercise too?” What the…

  • Szcunane55

I exhausted reading your to-do list!

  • Sheryll

I love this list and I really love that you posted it in all its honesty. Sometimes I wonder if I am too honest when I write but now I feel comfort in being me after reading you being you. Lol I just glanced at the comments below. I am a first born but what does that mean? Maybe I should Google it.

My three major goals this week are:  Write (my own) a letter of recommendation for my supervisor to sign, follow my cleaning schedule for a shiny house, and do my pilates workouts instead of sitting on the couch watching reality tv on Netflix.

  • Stacie

Your “Frumps to Pumps” has changed me! I thought I was the only woman to loathe the showering process! My hair is curly and my skin us dry, so every other day is best, but during summer break it turns into twice a week :/. But now I set a goal to be dressed (and don earrings) by 8:30 and make my bed. These two things alone set my entire day in motion! Now, if I don’t get dressed, I feel so lazy and unmotivated. And despite other clutter that may be hiding in corners in my bedroom, having the bed made makes the room feel like a peaceful and inviting place in the evening. Thank you for your honesty and encouragement!??

You had quite a bit to accomplish….hope you were able to accomplish them! I was able to send out two queries and a submission last week, have a calligraphy piece framed for my best friend’s birthday, and read a tiny book, “Made for Heaven” (CS Lewis)…I feel good!

  • http://kcbutlersatimetolaugh.blogspot.com/ Dana Butler

I just have to say…. I LOVE SETTLERS!! Love it. Like, so much that my husband is actually tired of it…which is weird. :)
