I’m not sure you know this, but authors do not sleep during launch week.

I have not been to bed before midnight this whole week, and I’m still up with the babes in the morning (although thank goodness they’ve been sleeping in until around 8pm). Launch week has been so much fun, and I’ll be sad when it’s over tomorrow, but I’m sure my body will be happy!

Okay, how about a book update?

We made it up to #64 on Amazon today, out of all books on Amazon, so that’s wonderful! The book is getting into the hands of “desperate” mamas everywhere, and I am just grateful for you all and how you’ve spread the word; thank you again, and again.

For those of you who are thinking about getting a copy of Desperate, a few quick thoughts for you:

We Wrote it For You

Actually, I wrote it for myself. I was in a place where I needed to process my own feelings of desperation. I needed to get the truth out of me and know that I wasn’t crazy; that I wasn’t alone. Turns out, thousands of you have felt desperate, alone, unsupported, exhausted, and praying for a mentor. In reading Desperate, you will know that you are not alone, that you are not the only one struggling with motherhood, and you are not the only one who has ever whispered, “I just can’t be a mother today.”

But it doesn’t end with the just the relating, because that wouldn’t be enough, would it? We need more than to know we’re not alone, we need guidance and wisdom and support and grace and love. Sally mentors you through the book, and her wisdom is a gift. She’s not harsh, and she’s not into formula’s; she’s into God, and she cares about moms.

We’re About a Movement, Not Just a Message

Desperate is not just another book with a helpful message, it’s about a movement. A movement of mothers coming together to support one another. A movement where older women invest in the lives of younger women; where moms don’t have to do motherhood alone. We want to see women helping each other so that we can persevere in raising godly generations who know freedom, love people, and walk in the truth. Motherhood is hard; you shouldn’t have to do it alone.

In each chapter of Desperate you will find QR codes (and video links) to videos of Sally and I talking about the chapter. The videos are only 2-4 minutes long, but are great to use in a book study. Also, at the end of each chapter are scripture verses, questions, and challenges for you. These make it easy to read and discuss in a group setting.

I’m so glad this book has done so well…it is a much needed message. I have been particularly struck by chapter 2…i’ve been “desperate” for friendship. As a pastor’s wife and stay-at-home mom, it has been hard to have close friendships. You move into a church situation where circles of friends are already established and you feel you are on the outside looking in and then as a stay-at-home mom (living on a very tight budget) there is little opportunity to connect sometimes. I am determined in the strength of the Lord helping me to step out of my comfort zone to reach out to three moms living in my neighborhood to establish a “mom’s night out”…there is so much ministry to be done and I’m tired of sitting back….I’m going to be desperate NO MORE!

Looking forward to reading this book. I have older children and a younger one behind. There are days I am between two places….desperate to love on my younger child but busy mentoring my older children or vice versa. I have longed for God to train me and meet me where I am so that in turn I can be that Titus 2 woman to others around me when God deems it is time. I am seeing both in this book, our mom hearts crying out and yet an example of how to reach out as a Titus 2 woman. I need both! Thank you both for being transparent with us so that we too may learn from what God is teaching you.
