School Accessories Giveaway, 10 Winners!

schoolgiveawayI LOVE back-to-school time.

Love it.

I love the smell of notebooks and pencils and binders and books. I love that every year for the first day of school the kiddos and I go out to breakfast, go shopping for one new school outfit each, head to the park to feed the ducks, make “About Me” books, and then take school pictures in our new outfits. Such fun!

We also have a little tradition of walking to the school bus with the neighborhood kids, you know, solidarity and all. As the neighborhood kids board the school bus, my kids wave goodbye and say, “So long suckas!” I kid, I kid on that last part!

Well, in honor of almost back to school (and for sure back to school in the South, where you all are CRAZY starting so early), and The Type-B Homeschool Planner, I give you DaySpring and some super cute school accessories to begin the year with!

Today, you have a chance to win all of things shown above!

And how about the fact that there will be 10 WINNERS! Yep. 10 of you will get to take home the four items in the above picture, BUT they will be your choice. So, if you don’t want a bearded notebook, you can have a cute owl one, or a mustache one. Perhaps instead of the “Shine” water bottle, you’d like the “Joy’s of Life” one instead. Your choice!

  • Sabrina

We homeschool, so I make a big batch of yummy grain-free pancakes and the kids go crazy that morning {we usually do something after breakfast that is active in order to expend some of that ‘sweet’ energy}. Thanks for a great giveaway!

  • Jen H

We take a pic of them getting on the school bus!

  • Gina Ogden

I take a picture on the first day of school, just like everyone else. Maybe I should come up with something else…

  • Alisa

New school supplies, a special breakfast and a little note!

  • Paula Romer

We are just in homeschool pre-school, so we are able to glean great and creative ideas from others to implement! I did by a back pack and lunch box since we will be attending a co-op once a week, but I need to come up with some fun, memorable ideas. Thanks for the great giveaway, Sarah Mae. I would love to win your planner!

  • Not So Average Mama

We are unschoolers, so we really don’t have a back to school tradition.

  • Elle

    No traditions yet!

  • kelly rau

I love the idea of going out to breakfast the first day of school…we might have to do that this year!

  • Jamie

We always go out to dinner at a restaurant of the kids choosing.

  • SaraR

Well, this year will be different because now we’re officially homeschooling 2 and there’s no special homeschool school day for the one but we are doing a coop. So maybe that’ll be the day I do pictures, which is all we really did. I think I need a tradition. Is there something past being a Type B because I think that’s me.

  • Elizabeth P. Deans

We have a back to school dinner.

  • Sadrac N Sheila Sepulveda

We don’t have any yet but I really like your idea of going out to breakfast, new outfits, park and pictures. I may have to steal that one ;)

  • Stacy Halbach

We always line up outside the first day of school and dress up/take pictures!

  • thefiveharts5

To celebrate the first day of school, we do pics on the porch, pray for our school year, order pizza for lunch, have kids’ choice for dinner, and cake for dessert. To celebrate the first day of the public school in our area, we’ll go to the zoo and Chuck E Cheese for lunch…they’re not crowded anymore and much more fun that way! lol

  • Connie Trudeau Helland

tradition: cleaning our playroom/school room together to create a place and space for new learning…this may be more fun for the teacher :) and less fun for the kiddos however hopefully it is good modeling of how to declutter and create space and breathing room

  • Lacey Cummings

    We do back-to-school pics!

  • colleen_evelyn

This year my two oldest girls are heading to school away from home for the first time. My mama’s heart is breaking a little at the change… but I am hoping to make it special for them! Maybe we will sneak in breakfast out before drop-off. I am also planning on getting them their first ever manicure a few days before. :)

  • Jessica Locklear

Cute stuff! Starting our first year of homeschooling with my Kindergartener!

  • Cassie DeLapp

Actually we have none. My daughter is 10 and I have never done anything special for the first day of school. Would love to try something special this year.

  • http://www.beingstepmom.com/ lisa michele

  • Charice

We take a picture with the kiddos holding a grade level sign that they’ve designed and colored….and this happens after Labor Day! LOL Even though we do “school” all year long.

  • Melanie

I can’t say we really have a back to school tradition. But, I love that idea of going to breakfast together and waiting at the bus stop with friends. Last year was our first year to homeschool 3rd & 8th grade. Yes, you are right, the south starts back to school way too early. I remember when I was growing up we didn’t start back until after Labor Day.

Each kiddo who is going to school, two this year, has a back-to-school supply shopping date with just a Mom. After buying all of the needs, we go out for a ice cream or some other treat. The one-on-one time means the world to them and is worth the few extra dollars of supply costs.

  • Gloria Cottrell Phillips

We homeschool and to start the year we always take some fun pictures and I’m hoping to start using some fun ideas I have found on pinterest.

  • Carrie

We go school shopping for new clothes and pencils and stuff.

  • http://www.royallittlelambs.com/ Jennifer Lambert

Organizing all their new school supplies, their shelves, bulletin boards and desks. Then they get to decorate all of their “view” binders. They get one binder per subject times four girls is a lot of binders.

  • rachieannie

I love love love browsing the school supply aisles and suckering into new pens and highlighters and notebooks and whatever other pretties catch my eye, even though no one in our family is in school. But you always need school supplies!

We are starting a new tradition this year of going out to breakfast to celebrate the first day of school! I was seriously believing you were following the neighborhood kids out to the bus…until you called them “suckas” lol!

  • Bek D.

I always make a planner for my children. Kind-of like a photo, school, journal book, all rolled into one. I laminated photos on pretty paper that I pick out, so it doesn’t get “gookie” from the littlles. They can check-off or “sticker” off, their daily duties and school subjects. Lots of room for memorable moments and more photos inside. My children (even our olders) LOVE to look at the books. I also fill a shoe sized plastic container with new school items, such as crayons, markers, glue, etc., for each child. We used to have one box for each of these items, but with so many children needing them at the same time, we found it best for our family to give each child their own. Cultivates the lovely character trait of Responsibility!!! New to this blog…look forward to reading more! Blessings!

  • Lisa Lawton

We do the cute pictures with the sign. I am hoping to add something else fun this year if I can get myself organized!
