With the babes at Dosie Dough, our fav croissant joint!
It’s Saturday evening and I am seriously spent.
Last night my family decided that it would be an awesome idea to spend the night at our pool’s annual 4th of July holiday sleepover. This was our first year attending, and all was well and good until the sleeping part.
Yes, because it was really a lack of sleeping part.
Tents, ground, kids. I’m sure some of you are really good at this camping thing. Me? Not so much. I didn’t sleep a wink. At 5am I went home, crawled into my comfy bed, and dreamed.
I dreamed of Perelandra.
Which brings me to my first THING. You absolutely must must must get your hands on C.S. Lewis’ space trilogy because it is AMAZING. At least so far. I’m on book two, Perelandra, and it is breathtaking. Lewis is a master at fiction and I am seriously in awe of his imagination and his ability to communicate it so fully and perfectly. Perelandra is speaking to me on a deep level, and when I’m finished with the series you can expect a full review.
“This itch to have things over again, as if life were a film that could be unrolled twice or even made to work backward . . . was it possibly the root of all evil? No: of course the love of money was called that. But money itself—perhaps one valued it chiefly as a defense against chance, a security for being able to have things over again, a means of arresting the unrolling of the film.”
The next THING is that I am tickled to report is that Longing for Paris will not only be an audio book, but I HAD THE CHANCE TO READ IT!
The whole fam drove to the city where I was to record the audio book!
We got to spend time with dear friends while there. This is me with my sweet friend Kristen (she is the one who introduced me to Lewis’ space trilogy) and this is how I got woken up in the mornings at her house:
Two days of reading. The best part? My girl was with me!
On our break, we went to a French bakery and had a croissant, and later we went to the American Girl doll store! So fun.
I love reading out loud, and having the opportunity to read my own book has just made me the happiest. I almost prefer you get the audio because you can hear my voice and know how I am saying something. I love that, that personal quality. The audio version should be available on August 4th!
The last THING I want to tell you today is that Amazon has put Longing for Paris on sale for only $8! Well, $8.37. But still, that’s crazy and awesome and nearly 50% off! So, if you’re wanting a copy, now is the time to get it! You can do that HERE.
Now I have to prep myself for another late night because FIREWORKS. Have a great 4th friends!
