The fam in 2008

I remember when I had two little toddlers and was pregnant with my sweet Caroline.

I wanted so badly to get away for a night or a weekend to just catch my breath, but I couldn’t afford it. I wished there was a place I could go where I could to think, pray, eat a meal in peace, and rest. I remember telling my husband, “If I can one day, I’m going to open a place where moms of little ones can come and breathe and be pampered and be encouraged in their good work of mothering. Oh, and it will be free for those who can’t afford it.”

While I still haven’t found a way to make it free (one day!), Amy and I have carved out a special night for those of you who could really use some breathing space, some words to encourage you to keep on, and of course, some pampering with treats and a small gift or two. Our goal is to champion you in your calling as a mom, and to give you that much needed rest we all so long for.

Hence, A Night to Breathe was born.

What a busy, exhausting, precious season with a baby, a 19-month old, and a three year old! I could have used a night to breathe!

Now for the good news for those of you who so want to come to the January 23rd event in Harrisburg, PA but just can’t afford it right now. We are giving away two tickets, one for you and a friend (one winner)! All you have to do is leave a comment letting us know you’d like to come. (Reading this in your email? Click HERE to come to the blog and comment for your chance to win!)

We will have a wonderful, restful, fun, inspiring, chocolate and coffee driven time!

Can’t wait to see you!

Hi Sara. I have 3 children between the ages of 9 and 1. I’m still nursing my youngest (what a blessing) and I could certainly use a night to breathe. Being a family of 5 on one income makes breaks difficult, but I already know you know that – LOL! If I won the ticket that’d be super, but If not, I pray that a mother who needs it more than I do wins! God bless. 🙂

  • Ashten Basquez

  • Mandy Gaddy

Hi! My name is Mandy- stay at home mom to a 4 year, 2 year and 7 month old. Life is busy to say the least and we’ve recently moved (proving to be a mountainous task for this mama!) and honestly- I’m lonely. I would love to hear you speak and would look forward to talking to other women!

    • Rachel Davis

Aw, the stay-at-home mama gig can definitely be lonely at times. I know first-hand. I said a little prayer for you. Maybe you’ll win! 🙂

  • Marina s.

    Would be awesome!

  • Rachel Glover Boyer

Hello! This is an amazing thing you are doing. I think sometimes as wives and mothers we do not take the rest we need. I am a mother to a 14 year old boy and three girls ages 12,9, and 3. My husband just took the Youth Pastor job at our church and I was homeschooling but recently put the kids in a private school. This season of my life has been challenging and learning to “just breathe” is coming to me….but slowly 🙂 I would love to win this trip and be encouraged by women who inspire me to be better. Lots of love…Rachel Boyer

  • Olga L. Ingels

This would be such a BLESSING!!

  • Michele

I would LOVE to come!! I also have a friend that desperately needs a break too!! Please pick me!!!

  • Janelle Dau Hvidsten

I have 5 children- 8, 7, 7 (twins), 5 1/2 and 2. We homeschool and I hope to bring encouragement to others but seem to need encouragement today. A chance to “breathe” would be awesome.

  • Sara Madden

Thank you for all the encouragement you provide!

  • Jamie T

I really crave a night to breathe. As the mom of 5 amazing, crazy, energetic kids (ages 9-6months) & wife to a busy Pastor I find myself wondering who I am anymore. I would cherish a moment for me to reconnect with Christ and other moms. Life as a Pastors wife is pretty lonely and my kids wear me out lets just be honest. I know whomever wins will be truly blessed by this.

  • Courtney Chilson

This is an awesome opportunity. With three little boys and a crazy ministry schedule, I would love this weekend with a friend!

  • Becky

Oh wow–I could SO use this. I’m a mom of three under 5, and wife to a busy ministry guy. I have a good friend who first introduced me to your writing, and she’d love it, too!

  • Stephanie Nelson

A night to breathe sounds so refreshing and invigorating right now as I have a newborn I’m about to feed and a lesson to execute first thing in the morning after my busy Monday of ministry. I can’t imagine stopping right now. Grateful for the ministry you share and are gifted in to encourage other mommas!

  • Allison

    I would love this.

  • Anya Sattely

Yes, this would be amazing! I would love to spend the weekend with a good friend and many other mommas who get it!

  • Tina Perriello Ondish

I would love to come. I am a mom of 6 beautiful children currently looking for a job to help out with the finances and super stressed about the whole process! I am not even sure I know what a little “break” with a ” night to breathe” would do but I would love to come and find out!

  • Emily Mattingly Randolph

With twin 21/2 year girls, working full time in a professional, fast paced career and all the other things that keep us going in this journey of life….a night to breathe in itself sounds relaxing and calming! Wonderful title!! Applause, because you get it! Many blessings to you and prayers for a wonderful night! Emily

  • Karissa Richards

A night to breathe, does that really exist as a mom?!? Even when away you worry about them!!! But I’d be willing to give it a try! I would take my youth pastors wife with me! She needs the night away even worse than I do!!

  • Dan Miller

Am I the only one entering on behalf of my wife? That’s gotta count for something. I’d love to score tickets for my wife and her good friend and neighbor. Both have been champs on their respective home front, taking care of kids, all under 5, while each has faced health problems and multiple deaths in their families in 2015.

  • Dana Mengel

I have a 9 year old girl and a 5 year old girl. My youngest has been through a lot with not gaining weight and they keep having different tests done on her. My oldest is having her second surgery this year on the 14th of this month. I am a stay at home Mom and I haven’t been on vacation or had time away from my girls since they have been born. I would love to come to have a night to breathe but can’t afford it.

This will be an incredible blessing for whoever receives it. Sarah I first heard of you through your boom Desperate while attended a Moms groul that was my life blood at the time. Since then some of the friends Ive made there and myself have been attempting to read Sallys Own book. Life has set our regular meetings back but we press on. Thank you for encouraging and uplifting. About myself I have a 7yr, 5yr, 3yr, and 10mo old. God has been faitful and a chance to breath and refresh would be lovely. Gotta try to win! God Bless!
