Day 7: Next Bathroom! #31DaysToClean

bath2

Um, so the trash...

bath3

The shaving sink. Ew.

bath5

Why oh why did I put bathrooms at the top of our list to clean? Because no one wants to clean them! I don't. Also, your fearless leader is a day behind. I have yet to organize my bathroom closet, so I will be catching up on that today as well as tackling this nasty beast. If you have another bathroom, you're with me today, sister! Get to it! If you don’t have another one to clean, go bake something yummy and share it with someone! Mmmm... cupcakes!

Day 6 – The Bathroom Closet! #31DaysToClean

IMG_6015_2

Not too bad. I have a feeling my oldest will want to organize for me. SCORE.

It’s time to clean out the bathroom closets or nooks (whichever you have) from your first bathroom! Ready? Let's do this! Here’s the plan:
  • Pull everything out of the closet onto the floor or on a space where you can go through everything you have in there
  • Get a trash bag (you’ll need it)
  • Sort each item into trash (hello trash bag), keep, or donate (yes donate, you might have something in there that you really don’t use or need but that is nearly new)
  • Take the donate box IMMEDIATELY to your car and either drop the stuff of that day or this week
  • Once you have sorted, organize and put back into the closet
  • Voilà! You are done for the day!

Get the Kids Involved!

Who says you should have to organize all by yourself? Get your kiddos to help! If you have a child who is willing to organize, let go of the control and let them put everything away (just give them simple guidelines). Help is help!

She organized the bathroom closet for two scoops of ice cream. :)

Also, why do I still have Desitin? I have no babies...

And she did it all in roller blades. That's just how she rolls. HA!

Day 5: Begin the Bathrooms! #31DaysToClean

Today we begin cleaning the bathrooms! For the purposes of this series, we are going to be cleaning two bathrooms and  organizing the bathroom closets over the course of four days. If you have more than two bathrooms, you can work fast and get more done, or catch up on other days. Here we go!

IMG_6016

This is my bathroom. It's not too bad, but THOSE FLOORS need washed. Remember, I have a boy. Ahem.

Here's the game plan for bathroom #1:
  • Get a bin of some sort and put everything from your bathroom in it and take it out of the bathroom. Take out the trash can as well.
  • Put your toilet bowl cleaner in the bowl and let it sit.
  • Wash the sink, the mirror, and then the toilet. Flush!
  • Wash out the bathtub.
  • Sweep the floor.
  • Get a bucket of hot, soapy water and wash the floor. If you want to get it really clean (especially around the toilet and ESPECIALLY if you have boys) get on your hands and knees to do this.
  • Put everything back in the bathroom that you want in the bathroom (don’t put the dirty clothes back on the floor!). Don’t forget to take out the trash!Get the Kids Involved! Trust me, your kids are capable of more than they sometimes let on! I know for sure that any kiddo seven years old and up and take on cleaning a bathroom, if not in full in part.If you have an older child that can do the whole thing, get them on it! This could be a weekly job for them.If you have younger children, have them just do a part of the bathroom, such as sweeping it up and putting new trash bags in the trash cans.
I'll be back later with after pics!

Day 4: Kitchen Floors and Cabinets #31DaysToClean

cabinetbefore

As Jimmy Fallow says, "Ew."

floorbefore

floorbefore2

Oh my goodness. I had no idea my floor was this disgusting. Double ew.

There was a time dear readers when I had a lovely woman coming once a week to clean my home. And bless her heart, SHE NEVER TOLD ME WHAT A SLOB I WAS! I mean, I got down on my belly to get these pics (I promptly showered afterwards), and EW EW EW! I mean. EW. I think you've figured out already, but I no longer have that precious woman helping me. Dear Lord send her back. So I am faced with my nastiness. And it is...nasty. Time to take care of business.

Let's Do This!

We shall scrub the floors, but first, the cabinets. Take a close look at them. Do you see the dirt and stuck-on food? Go on, get your sponge and get to work! And when you finish the cabinets, move on to the floor. Do not even look at the hand-held mop. Oh no, sister, you need to get a sponge and a bowl full of hot soapy water and get on your hands and knees. Clean those floors well! Get those pieces of mac n’ cheese, the old cheerio, and the...what is that? Get too it! Scrub, baby scrub! Get Your Kids Involved! How about asking your child to help you! Give them the sponge and the soapy water and have them wash the floors. I would have an older child (over six) do this unless you want water everywhere (ask me how I know). You could offer to pay your child to help if this is out of the realm of their everyday jobs. Take all the help you can get!

After Pics!

I'm in Colorado with Sally at her MomHeart conference, so my kids and I got these tasks done early! I'll be back on Monday!

caedclean2

That's right. These AWESOME kids are my super helpers!

caedclean

And they liked it!

ellahand2

Okay, so she didn't like it so much, but here's how I got her to clean. SHE asked me if she could have my ePantry box, and I told her "SURE", if you clean the kitchen floor. :) She agreed. And she got the box, which is now a "hotel" for her dolls. WIN WIN!

(I had to go back and clean up a few spots, but overall she did a great job!)

Day 3: Let’s Clean Out the Pantry! #31DaysToClean

pantrybefore

Oh sweet pantry, how you hold my food so lovingly. Okay, so we are cleaning out our pantry's today! Let's get to it!

Let's Do This!

  • Pull everything out. That’s right, all of it. Now, depending on the size of your pantry, this job might take 1/2 hour or two hours.
  • Throw out all the expired stuff. Once that’s done, you can begin to organize and put things away. Make sure to have paper and pen with you to write down any items you are in need of replacing!
  • Doesn’t it feel good to have a clean pantry? I love it!

Speaking of Pantry's....

Have you all signed up for your $10 ePantry credit and FREE Method Wood Floor cleaner? GET ON THAT! :)

After Pics!

Today and tomorrow I will have the after pics in the posts right away because I did them early since I will be out of town. As you're reading this, I'm either on a plane to Colorado or in Colorado with my dear Sally at her Mom Heart conference. I couldn't have finished today's and tomorrow's tasks without the help of my amazing kiddos.

ellapantry

I enabled the help of my darling daughter who LOVES (and asks me) to organize! She did it all folks!

ellapantryafter

When it comes to cleaning, I don't care how it gets done, just so long as it gets done. She GOT IT DONE. WOOT!
