Day 23 – The Family Room! #31DaysToClean

Curled up in bed watching The Watsons Go to Birmingham

I woke up with a headache that I thought would make my head explode.

I took Ibuprofen, had two cups of coffee, hid from the light for a couple of hours, and finally made cheesy potato soup and watched a movie in bed with the kids. The edge is finally gone and I think I can do some cleaning.

Today (or maybe tomorrow), the family room...famroombefore

Ah yes, the family room. It used to be where we watched movies and cuddled close. Once we got rid of our T.V. we stopped spending time in this room, and now it pretty much just houses my husbands wood projects. (We use an iPad for movies.)

fambookshelvesbefore

These are the bookshelves my husband BUILT for us. I love them. We want to make this room a library and begin using it again. But there is the matter of all that wood...

Today we will be cleaning the family room, or whatever extra room you have in your home that could use some cleaning! If you have another room that’s like your living room, clean it according to the living room plan. Whatever extra room or other space that you have that needs cleaned, do that space today! What you don’t finish you can do on a Saturday or the project day that is coming up! WOOT!

After Pics!

Oh, IT LOOKS SO GOOD NOW!!!!!

Day 22 - Sorting Day!

IMG_6410

I literally swooshed everything from my kitchen counter (that wasn't dish-related) into this trash bag...a month ago.

Sorting day! Remember how you stuffed all those papers and miscellaneous items from your kitchen counters and drawers into a bag or bin? Well friend, today is the day you are going to sort through all of that stuff. Yep, so settle in with some good tunes and get to it! In fact, if you're in the east, today is a PERFECT day to sort because of ALL THE PRETTY SNOW outside! I love it. My kids will frolic in it and I will make hot chocolate. Cozy. And I will sort!

After Pics!

I just can't resist...

Day 21 – Cleaning the Coat Closet (or Any Closet)! #31DaysToClean

coatcloset

This, dear readers, is my coat closet. Yes, it's sparse, and yes, there are drawers in it. Also, my laminator. :) Most of the coats in our house are in the bedrooms or on this railroad spike coat rack my husband made for us (this is a promo pic; it's actually overflowing with winter coats):

railroadrack

Today, I'm going to clean up the coat closet! If you have a closet that needs cleaned out, GET TO IT SISTER! :)

Day 20 – Cleaning the School Space! Plus, Ohio Was Glorious! #31DaysToClean

riseup

I had a WONDERFUL time at the Rise Up Event this past weekend in Ohio! It was so refreshing. I had the opportunity to speak to over 600 women who were hungry for God and it was incredible. If you can go next year, GO!

bearrun1

This was our amazing cabin, thanks to the beautiful Lori Wolfe who organized the Rise Up event and provided a place for my family to stay for the weekend! She was such a gift to our family, and this cozy cabin was such a blessing!

hottub

And this is the babes in the hot tub while it was FREEZING outside! So fun. Also, my husband paid each kid a dollar to do snow angels in their bathing suits. Hilarious.

Now, back to work on this home of mine! :) Today, the homeschool hutch...

messyhomeschool

My homeschool hutch. MESSY. Today, I will get it in order and show you some of my favorite homeschooling resources!

If you have a homeschool space or a place where all your children’s school stuff is, that is the area we are going to clean and organize today. If you have a homeschool room, you will want to follow the steps laid out in cleaning the living room. If you have a space, like a desk or a closet or a buffet or other place you keep your homeschool or school stuff in, here is how we’ll tackle it:
  • Pull everything out
  • Sort into piles: papers to keep, trash, items to organize, school books, school supplies, etc.
  • Clean the area you will be putting the school stuff back on or in
  • Begin organizing everything
Ahhh...doesn’t that feel better. Here’s to learning!

Day 19 – The Dining Room! This is the Hub of Our Little Home! #31DaysToClean

diningroombefore

The dining room. It's messy and nearly impossible to keep clean, because this is the place where so much of our life happens. Meals, parties, school, crafts...it's the hub of our little home.

That litered piece of furniture behind the dining room table is where all the school stuff is. I will clean that on another day (I'm counting it as our homeschool room. ;)

caedpaint

School happens here!

Giggles a plenty!

Birthdays!

kissA little smoochin' even goes on in here.  (The kids snuck this pic.)

beforediningbook

And in our dining room is also this little bookshelf, that needs some TLC. The dust! Ew.

Today, let's clean the dining room! What needs to happen in your dining room to get it clean? Do that! Clean off all surfaces and scrub them down or dust them. Clean up clutter spots and be RUTHLESS when it comes to trashing papers and things you don’t need. Once you’ve cleaned and organized, sweep and mop your floors or vacuum them. You are ready for a lovely candle lit dinner with your family!

After Pics!

Coming later...as in, next week! I'm off to Ohio to speak at the Rise Up Event and I won't be back until Sunday! I'll be back at it here Monday!

diningafter

I'll be cleaning the homeschool hutch later today, so ignore that!
